Wim van der Kant (1949, Kampen – Netherlands) is a self-taught artist.
Beside his busy profession as a teacher at a high school, he practises his profession as sculptor.
Van der Kant makes his own strict requirements, but at the moment he was satisfied about his work, he decided to exhibit.
In 1995, he exhibits for the first time at Galerie Utrecht. Since 1995 his work is exclusively and successfully represented by Galerie Utrecht. Wim van der Kant wants to sculpture young people who still stand uninhibited and curiously in live. The anatomies of his figures testify of a perfectionist mind.
Van der Kants subjects has agreements with the sculptures from Greek and Roman antiquity, where young people were admired for its vitality and naivety.
The sculptures of Wim van der Kant were shown at the KunstRai Amsterdam, Lineart Ghent, Afa Rosmalen, Haf The Hague, Haf Utrecht and Realisme06.
